The only person in my "inner circle" who knows about my blog(s) is my wife. Well, besides my kids, she comprises the entirety of my so-called inner circle. It's more of an inner straight line, or maybe a square if I'm feeling generous, but I digress. She sometimes sends links to my wittier posts out to her friends, which is fine, but that's about the extent of it. I'm not sure why I don't tell people about it. I try not to say anything on here that would get me in trouble. I don't think I've ever slammed anyone that I actually know in any of my posts, and I don't bitch about work (or at least I don't give any details out about work on here).
It seems strange to me that I have the urge to type up the various contents of my head and publish them out there for potentially the entire world to happen upon, but I don't particularly want people I know personally to read it. Why is that? Any ideas? If you think I'm just a freak, feel free to let me know.

I do that too. My kids and their dad know. One friend/coworker knows that I have a blog but I have never said the name outloud and kind of like it that way. There is something about keeping it anonymous that makes me feel safe in saying whatever wants to pop out of my head. Sort of a cure for writer's block too.
ReplyDeleteIf you're a freak, you've got company here.
A few of my friends know about my blog but that is about it. My extremely close friends have no idea, and it is certainly not fun when co-workers find out about it especially if you posted about shitting your pants.
ReplyDeleteMr. Shife, that's too funny.
ReplyDeleteI came out of the blogging closet long ago then again since I've always used my real name and picture I couldn't hide very well.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty much the same way. Not too many people know that I even blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't really do a blog. I do have an art blog and a couple real life people know about that, but it's not something I bring up. How would that even fit into a conversation?
ReplyDeleteWell, like Travis, I post real life stuff and use my real name. I've thought lately about just starting a new blog like you've done here, to decrease my chances of being stalked.
ReplyDeleteThe really weird thing is the only people I have hid my blog from is my family. My brother knew at one point, but never bothered to read it. I like to rag on my mum occasionally, so it would suck if she knew. But what really boggles me is that my very closest friends don't ever read it. they all know about it.. but never EVER read it. Other than Lors, my BFF. No matter what I do, I can't get them to read it. Its so odd to me. I mean people I talk to everyday on the phone won't even go check it out if i lie and say I posted all their secrets and included photos.
I don't get it.
but i think I will do the different blog thing. maybe
one day
ever
Well, I'm all caught up!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like you comment back, but if you do comment back on something I commented on, let me know so I don't spend the energy checking. I'm pretty lazy.
haha well you know how private I am, so I think you probably know the answer
ReplyDeleteI've always tried to remain fairly anonymous to most of my family, even though I've calmed down on the content I wouldn't want my mom to read.
ReplyDeleteIs your take of the day turning into the take of the week?
ReplyDeleteHmm I thought you were going to blog?!
ReplyDeleteSo is it now turning into your take of the month? Or are you just having too much fun in the 49th most happiest state?
ReplyDeletePicks are up thanks for participating!
ReplyDeleteI think you are wise to keep tight lipped about your blog, I do the same thing.
ReplyDelete"Loose lips sink ships."
Only my best few friends know about it. It is really best not to let anyone from your daily life know, imho, because it frees you up to say and do whatever you want. That is the freedom of the internet, and if you blog on topics like mine (many potentially illegal), it is important.
